Peonies on a Friday

Learning about peonies today while painting a repurposed block print. Did you know they prefer winter weather and were used as medicine as well as protect from curses?

I took an old block print I had created and modified it to be just the frame. I sketched in a peony in various stages of bloom and tried to decide on a color for the petals.

I added in some purple for depth and still have to do the stems and leaves and any linework I want to add. Really loved this process and will do again soon.
